As Beau and I were driving to the vet this morning I was telling him that he was going to be a pirate dog and than I had the thought that 3 is the new 4. And that thought made me smile. Again I am a little sad but I’m just glad he’s home with us. We will take each day at a time and that he will be back to crazy Beau in no time. It will be new challenges but we are up for anything. Again 3 is the new 4. #piratedog

The waiting
So as I sit here with Beau and I think about what’s to come I do have moments of being overwhelmed. I hear the voice saying “he’s just a dog..” But he’s not just “a dog” he’s our dog.. He’s a kangaroo dog.. He can jump 6 ft.. He’s my crazy chicken catcher.. I wonder and in some ways blame myself.. Quick recap on the blaming myself.. 2 weeks ago I let Beau and Batman(our other dog) yes I know.. Batman.. But when he showed up randomly that was the only name besides buttface he would come to so Batman it is. Anyway I let them out and normally they stay in our yard or within yelling distance and for whatever reason that Sunday they went further than normal and only Batman came home. It was snowing and nasty out and I just think Beau got turned around and lost his way.. We looked and looked. Posted on FB, called the local animal shelter, vets and for 11 days no Beau.. I left the back door open so just in case he’d come home and know we were watching and waiting.. But than day 11.. We get a call saying someone found Beau. He just had a cut paw from getting caught in a trap but we all rushed out of the house to bring him home. I took him to the vet first thing the next morning and we all figured he’d be fine. Than over the weekend and the next day we noticed his foot was not getting better so we got him in and they let us know that keeping his foot was no longer an option so here we are.. Me wondering if I’d have let him out earlier, or later would we be here.. But than I realize that I still have an amazing dog. He’s my dork of a dog who will now be my piratedog. This will be a journey for us and I’m ready for that journey. Not what I wanted but I know that’s what faith is about. So #piratedog
